How It's Done — Rock Anniversary Event UI

Hello everyone! I’m Liza Kushnir, a UI/UX designer on the War Robots project. Today I’d like to talk about working on the Anniversary Rock event, which took place in the game this May.

This was a very special event — not only because it celebrated War Robots’ 11th anniversary, but also because it came along with a major feature redesign. Our task was not an easy one: to bring together in one place all the scattered event-related activities and information, so that players could interact with the event within a single space — the so-called Event Hub.

The first step was to collect all event activities in one place, but we immediately ran into a problem: the Hub feature and screens in general were overloaded with elements and information

To solve this, we identified secondary and less important blocks of information and started cutting them away. That allowed us to focus the player’s attention on what really matters without overwhelming them with unnecessary details

Another important decision was something new for War Robots: abandoning one of our basic interface elements — the top panel with currencies and resources. This gave us more room for information and artwork featuring the event’s main robot

Once we had defined the Hub’s structure and UX, we moved on to working on the UI. The event theme was dedicated to the WARP rock band from the War Robots universe. Our guiding keywords were: dynamics, special effects, spectacle

While working on the event, we explored different ways of representing the “stage” for our band. As the main colors, we considered fiery red, gold, purple, and ultramarine. For decorations, we looked at stage effects, light panels, and spotlights

After choosing the visual style, we began assembling layouts, refined the chosen decorations, and created secondary decorative elements, event tokens, and final artwork of the band members

As a result, the Event Hub’s main screen turned out informative and functional. Players can immediately see the event’s main content and access all the necessary information

The datapad opening screen underwent minimal changes, but we managed to remove unnecessary elements and make the interface cleaner and more informative

Daily Rewards were a completely new feature for the event, borrowed from the Login Calendar. We managed to integrate them harmoniously into the Event Hub, giving players even more event-related content — rewards and the band’s pilot characters

The familiar event tasks also found their place in the new hub. Here, players can not only claim rewards for completing tasks but also earn special milestone rewards using event tokens — a new entity in the game

The event pass screen was carried over almost unchanged, though we made the artwork a bit more informative. Now it’s clearer for players what exactly the pass provides. Plus, additional information was added about how the pass works

Event-themed styling also extended to other features tied to Anniversary Rock. Using our style constructor, we assembled all the necessary additional layouts: Operations, Leaderboards, and Offers
